Frequently
Asked Questions

What does ALIS stand for?

ALIS (pronounced “Alice”) stands for Assisted Living’s Intelligent Software.

ALIS offers simple, flexible pricing tailored to each community’s needs. Subscriptions typically range from $8 to $15 per resident per month, depending on selected modules. There’s a minimum monthly subscription of $300 for single communities and $190 for smaller multi-community groups. A one-time onboarding fee, from $650 to $3,500, varies based on required assistance.

We provide a 30-day grace period and a Risk-Free Guarantee: if your staff isn’t satisfied with ALIS within 90 days of signing the agreement, you can cancel your implementation without charge or penalty.

ALIS boosts staff efficiency by ensuring each team member knows exactly what tasks to focus on each day. This allows nurses, med techs, caregivers, and administrators to complete essential duties effectively, supporting a healthy community.

Its electronic workflow updates in real time, providing accurate information about actual care versus assessed care, which helps communities increase revenue. Additionally, ALIS enables administrators to maintain proper staffing levels to meet residents’ needs at any given time.

The ALIS Core package, which includes resident and staff management, calendar, alerts, electronic incident and note tracking, and compliance, is typically operational within 30 days. Full implementation, encompassing medications, drug count, electronic assessment and care tracking, billing, lease management, and ALIS Connect, generally takes around 90 days. This timeline can vary based on the company’s and community’s resources available during onboarding.

For staff training, choose between “Full” or “Self-Onboarding” implementation. With Self-Onboarding, we train 2-3 “ALIS Champions” at your community, who then train the rest of your staff. Full Implementation means ALIS representatives provide comprehensive data and training services for all modules, primarily via conferences and remote screen shares, unless on-site rollout is requested. Our experienced Onboarding specialists will tailor the plan to your team’s skills and needs.

Regardless of your choice, our team is dedicated to your success. After initial onboarding, your monthly subscription includes unlimited support and online training.

We provide videos and guides for new staff training, which takes only 15-30 minutes for direct care or medication staff.

Your ALIS package depends on the modules each community selects. Generally, communities can choose from these modules:

  • ALIS CORE (Required): Includes resident and staff records, observations/notes, incident management, compliance, alerting, and an advanced calendar.
  • Prospects: For lead and referral management, tracking, and tasks.
  • Medications: Full eMAR, pharmacy integration, and drug counting.
  • Resident Electronic Evaluation (RET): Fully electronic evaluations with an integrated service plan, care plan, and work lists. It features a calendar system with reminders to prevent missed expiration dates, and is dynamic, easy to update, and customizable.
  • Care Tracking and Planning: Care plan management, ADL tracking, PRN care scheduling and tracking, time reporting, and alerting.
  • Billing and Residency Agreement Management: Automatic invoice generation and incidental item tracking. The Billing Center helps business office managers stay informed of care or room changes that impact billing. It also offers customizable rent roll, occupancy reporting, residency agreement tracking, revenue projection, and loss to lease/vacancy tracking. Compatible with most general ledgers, including Sage Intact (preferred partner), QuickBooks, and others.
  • ALIS Connect: A family engagement portal to view social posts, menus, activity calendars, medication lists, evaluations, and to view and pay invoices.

If transitioning from paper, you’ll need to invest in internet connectivity and hardware for ALIS. Administrators typically use desktops; nurses can use desktops or laptops. Med techs require one device per med cart, while caregivers can use phones, Chromebooks, or laptops, depending on your charting preferences. We also suggest a good printer, scanner, and fax machine. However, if you’re switching from another electronic provider, you likely already have the necessary infrastructure to support ALIS.

ALIS is device-agnostic and 100% web-based, working on any internet-connected device. It’s optimized for Google Chrome but supports all modern browsers and runs efficiently on LTE, 3G, or 4G.

ALIS maintenance is included in your monthly subscription. No costly upgrades or patches required. Updates are automatic and come at no extra charge. We enhance ALIS with new features every six weeks, with 70% of updates inspired by customer feedback!

Yes, protecting each company’s information is our top priority. We partner with reputable cloud providers known for their strong security practices and maintain multiple geographically distributed backups. All data is encrypted both at rest and in transit to ensure maximum safety.

For sanity’s sake! Owners, operators, C-level executives, executive directors, regional directors, and nurses can’t keep up with everything happening in a company or community when it’s all on paper.

With ALIS, everyone can focus on their job, while ALIS handles the heavy lifting of keeping others informed. Having resident and staff information at your fingertips helps you maintain compliance, anticipate problems, increase net operating income, and gives you peace of mind.
